Childrens Marine Tuesdays in the Zadar Public Library

The City Library maintains a regular children version of Marine Tuesdays called "Mali morski utorak". 20000 Leagues members together with partners participate in this program. Workshops were held with the aim of introducing children to some of the most common species of marine organisms. These are the organisms we find in the tidal area; like limpets, barnacales and snails, as well as colorful algae and seaweed in deeper parts Children learn the best with examples, live material and use of tools, like microscopes and magnifying devices. Talks about mutual connections, production of oxygen and secrets of the sea we still need to unravel intrigued the children and motivated them to ask many questions and give us many interesting answers.

Science festival – TIME and WEATHER 2017.

We participated in this year's Science Festival! In the Kruno Krstić Primary School through games and fun workshop we had education pupil why the sea is important and how to keep it healthy, with the support of teachers. This year's theme of the festival is Time, so we decided to touch the theme of litter in the sea and how with time it changes form and becomes even more dangerous when we can't see it - in the form of microplastics. We demonstrated to the pupils why we can find plastic when we look at the seabed sediment and marine organisms under microscope and how weather and weather conditions affect litter in the sea. We have talked about how to properly separate waste. We concluded the day with loads of new knowledge and with an important message: we all need to keep our seas clean together!
